At this point I have assumed that every new show Funimaton streams will eventually be released on home video. The real mystery is whether Funimation is going to dub all three shows.

I'm not too surprised Puchimas is sub-only. We don't even have the other TV series or the original games on the consoles here.

Some shows, like Tatami Galaxy and Rainbow, were streamed but never physically released. Likely due to a fear of low sales.

But. But. Ping Pong. I will buy that, Funimation. I promise.

(Sort of surprised about Puchimas, though.)

Yes, Ping Pong! I was hoping they'd get home video rights for this. I will definitely be buying.

Will gladly pick up Ping Pong when that's released. Tokyo Ravens I may have to wait on. Maybe wait until it's released as a SAVE or Anime Classics full season set.

Yuasa is finally gonna have an anime released over here! That's awesome!

Even better, an anime release means it might be more likely that Viz licenses the original Ping Pong manga. More Taiyo Matsumoto is also appreciated.

I thought Funnimation didn't do sub only releases.

I hope with Ping Pong they leave the Cantonese dialogue intact, like Bandai did with Sword of the Stranger.

With the tragic fate of The Tatami Galaxy I was worried Ping Pong wouldn't get a physical release. I'm happy that's not the case, and I'll definitely be buying it when it comes out! Very Happy

That is a shame, I don't mind sub only releases, but Funimation was the only publisher who still dubbed all their titles. Sentai release half their shows like that, Aniplex more recently have started dubbing most of their titles but some still get left out and NIS America rarely dub anything. Funimation is the publisher who provide shows to newcomers who are unfamiliar with watching shows subtitled and dub only watchers.

The good news I guess is that any title they get that is hard to localise, they can release it subbed instead of adding a dub just for the sake of it, like Geneon did with Ayakashi.

Funimation has plenty of dubbed anime to go around. I believe Funimation will keep dubbing at least 85% of what they license, but it would fine if they only dubbed 70% of their stuff because they dub too many crappy shows.

I don't think either Puchimas or OniAi are "newcomer" shows.
