Soon provided it's not leaked beforehand.

If Turtonator is capable of learning Taunt, it could help make its signature move Shell Trap more effective.

Heh, is this a more proper kappa Pokémon?
Pretty appropriate to show it up against Torkoal as its first opponent though. Then, we got Tortuga and Carracosta. No Squirtle line though.
If this thing can learn Shell Smash, that'd...probably work against Shell Trap.
By the way, Bulbanews spelled its name wrong as "Tortunator."

Perhaps so, although Turtonator more closely looks similar to the Mata Mata Turtle.

"Tortunator" is actually its German name.

Ah, I see. That's weird. I saw it used in place of its English name though, and the rest of the article was in English, so I'd still consider that an error, as I'm certain they meant to use its English name. This is the quote:
Quote: | Tortunator, the Blast Turtle Pokémon, is a Fire/Dragon-type with Shell Armor as its Ability. It knows a new move called Shell Trap, which can only be used by Tortunator as of now. It has a height of 6'07", and weighs 467.4 lbs. |
Hadn't thought of the Mata Mata Turtle either. That's also really neat.
Fire/Dragon...that'd make it weak to Ground, Rock, Fairy, and Dragon, I believe. There have been an interestingly large number of Dragon-types shown thus far (between this, Drampa, and Alola's Exeggutor). Turtonator seems the best equipped of these three to deal with Fairy-types though, as it's the only one so far to not take double damage from Fairy-type attacks. Better keep it away from Mega Altaria though.

They may have actually leaked a long while ago.
There was a series of pictures of the final evolutions some months back. Litten (the fire cat) seems to evolve into a grappler/wrestler, Popplio into a sort of siren/mermaid, and Rowlet into an archer-owl. These were originally thought to be fake, however when Nintendo revealed the whole trial system replacing gyms, one of the trial captains, Mallow, very closely resembles a character seen in the supposed leak. Bear in mind, the leak came out a good month or two (if not more) before this character was even seen.
A similar leak that has gotten a lot of things correct has pegged Litten's final evo to be fire/dark, for the record, as it is a "heel" type of wrestler, so it avoids the whole fire/fighting thing.
