There were quite a few types of articles that I would love to see return or first appear on ANN... But I guess only a few at a time are possible.

Looking forward to another year of vainly hoping House of 1000 Manga comes back.

edit: oh & I forget where in the survey it is, but I'm pretty sure one of the questions about video games is duplicated.

It was hard to pick just one column I wanted to come back. I went with Pile of Shame, but I would love to see House of 1000 Manga or Tales of the Industry come back again.

Polls like this can be used for selling ad space. ANN can say "x% of our readers say they're likely to buy or lease a car in the next 12 months", and hopefully sell an ad to a car company.

Some running comments as I go through this:

  • "What brands of car are you likely to seriously consider for your next car (pick up to 3) " - Car brands should include Tesla
  • "How do you read manga" - I assume "The old fashioned way" means "in print"? Maybe not a great place to get cute, TBH.
  • "What kind of electronic games do you enjoy playing" - Should include Sports
  • "Are you a fan of JPop (including JRock, Visual Kei, etc...)" - Different genres. Would be better phrased as "are you a fan of contemporary Japanese music, such as JPop, JRock, Visual Kei, etc."
  • "Which of the following occasional / retired columns would you most like to see brought back as a regular column ?" - Should include Buried Treasure / Garbage

It would have been nice to have some extra options to certain questions like "maybe" or "some". Like for the question for "how much would I pay for an ANN subscription, a choice saying "depends on what you offer" would be nice. Or more "mixed" responses. Like if someone asked me "do I use illegal streaming" I'd say "mixed" because I only watched what isn't licensed in my country, like kokkoku currently.

As for ad blockers, I turned off Ad Block Plus on ANN's site, but I do use tracking file blockers, like Ghostery and EFF's Privacy Badger. And I don't always turn on every JavaScript.
