How is it that Japan's already at Volume 7 of The Promised Neverland when Viz is still at Volume 1 (even though they're releasing it in Weekly Shonen Jump at about the same time)?

@leafy sea dragon It takes a lot of resources to publish English volumes simultaneously with the Japanese volumes. Viz likes to wait before publishing any volumes of a Shonen Jump series because it's not worth it to put a lot of effort into new series that might be cancelled in a couple of months. Though it seems like Viz is going to publish TPN on a quicker schedule than most of its other titles.

Ah, do you mean as in the resources needed to actually physically print the volumes rather than just digitally publishing each chapter in the magazine? That'd make sense, so they can gauge a series's popularity (which won't necessarily reflect its popularity in Japan).
