With a stage play being made for this, i wonder if it's just a way to get the IP back in the public consciousness before an anime announcement is made? There have been a lot of older properties made into anime lately

Stage plays are increasingly common now, and that's great! I love having different adaptions of a work, and hopefully a stage play can help the series get another/new anime.
