I've only seen the first couple episodes of MAR and this is definitely not the second episode that they're showing tonight. Was Prince of Tennis the same way or did they screw that up? At least Naruto is on the right episode, but Zatch Bell was from three or so episodes ago. They take a week off to show movies and then screw things up when they go back to the normal schedule.

Probably to skip "boring" intro material and skip to more exciting stuff for ratings purposes and to get people interested.

Well, they lost one viewer, I don't plan on watching again until they air episode two.

Does the show slow down on episode two? Did they move towards more action scene and skipped the boring (according to CN) story development? And exactly how far did Toonami skip ahead?
How funny would that be if that's all it took to have a hit show, just move an episode here, an episode there.......instant hit.

They skipped four episodes and those weren't even that bad, they were the ones that got me hooked in the first place. I mean come on they have aired worse beging episodes for series, there was no need to skip those episodes. though it doesn't really bother me that much because Alviss is my favorite character.

I could see them skipping the episodes focusing on the bandits, those were kinda weak, but they should have left in the Jack episode at least. I think it was probably just a mistake. I don't know about Prince of Tennis, but I did feel like I'd missed something, as there were a ton of characters that hadn't been introduced in the first episode.

Right, they skipped right over Jack's introduction and everything that happened on the farm. There was nothing slow about that episode. I really do hope this was a mistake, but I guess we'll find out next week.

This has happened with both MAR and Prince of Tennis. I think it's because these shows are in test runs and aren't planned to continue airing for more than a few weeks until the guys at CN see the ratings.

so that's what happened. i thought i had missed an episode or something. i don't get it, why would they just now implement this practice? they didn't do this to any other Toonami shows.

So why shoot the shows in the foot by skipping eps? Mar went 1-6 & Prince of Tennis went 1-4, right? It's a stupid thing to do. |

I agree completely. I was going to watch both these series, seeing some promise in the first episodes, but now I'm not so sure. At first I thought I had just (once again) fallen victim to CN's screwy scheduling practices and had missed some episodes aired mid-week, but I can't fathom why they think skipping episodes would be a good idea. Since my last name isn't Nielsen and my watching these shows isn't going to help them get picked up beyond the test run, I think I'm going to skip them until CN decides to run them correctly. This could also be a test-run to see general viewer reaction to the shows. Thus, they skip to what they consider "the good parts" in order to give a good impression of the shows. If this is the case, don't be surprised to see them both go off of Toonami (TV, not Jetstream) before too long. That's not to say that they will be gone forever, just until Toonami decides if they will be successful in a regular run.

I thought I had missed some episodes so I checked the click
MAR (Cartoon Network) Saturday January 6 10:30pm - Episode 5 "Alviss, the Mysterious Young Man" Episode five? This is the second time they've aired this particular show on American shores - traditional mathematical logic would dictate that episode number "two" would arrive after the previously aired episode "one." Unless, of course, the Cartoon Network had no intention to treat MAR or its companion Toonami Jetstream stalwart, Prince of Tennis, as full-fledged pick ups. Perhaps this is just a brief "test" run to see if either show stacks up and is worthy of a regular timeslot? Not that it matters, particularly, given how erratic their scheduling can be. Anyway, this episode has the plucky young Ginta confronting another young lad named Alviss, who clues Ginta in on a nefarious plot by an equally nefarious organization to capture Ginta's magical talking weapon, a mustachioed mace named Babbo.
