This was a cogent, thoughtful analysis of a many layered show. Mafuyu’s shock and grief in the face ofspoiler[Yuki’s suicide] is so subtly and effectively conveyed. It really moved me. And to see such a well written and conceived BL series was a joy... not just a trope-laden cliche, but a genuinely thoughtful series. I hope we see more series like this. That is something I’d like to see more of in anime in general. Thanks for your perceptive, thought provoking essay, Dr. Alvarez
