I doubt Netflix was really a "vital" factor. It would've probably been even more popular if it went to other platforms. Obviously only Netflix knows real numbers, but anecdotally it's hard to find people taht even know this anime exists despite places like ANN and such talking about it far more than they talk about other anime. Most anime fans just prefer other platforms from what I can gather.
while Beastars looked good, I didn't like the actual content of the show itself. I hope whatever they do next appeals to my tastes more.
