I remember meeting her many years back at a concert she performed at. Very nice lady. I hope she's better soon.

Hernia and a herniated disk are two distinct medical conditions. Ogata does not have a henria.

As the name indicates, a spinal disk herniation is a type of hernia.

Essentially, any internal structure that protrudes/swells/prolapses through the walls of its anatomic containment is considered a hernia. As Egan states, a disc herniation (or slipped disc in lay parlance) is a form of hernia.

Ogata-san has a lovely, positive attitude, and I do hope that helps in her recovery. I send my best wishes to a complete and rapid healing. Back problems, no matter what the cause, should be taken seriously, and it's good she's on top of this.
