I have only read few chapters but I watched the anime version last year. Probably one of the most improved characters is Atsushi who no longer feels so weak in this version. Atsushi had development as soon as he started taking care of Kyoka, but sometimes the author loves to exploit Atsushi's past to the point he feels way vulnerable often.
The anime version of Wan touches Dazai's desire to committe suicide again, but the handling feels like "eh deal with this guy". If there is something Dead Apple nailed was how Atsushi gave an alternative answer to Dazai's antics in the ending.
