If so she's definitely not alone with that. There's a whole bunch of this sort of manga around, stories dealing with controversial themes in an often grotesque setting, or manga that's just plain designed to be unsettling in its art and themes.
Anyway, this seems interesting, I'll check it out if I have the opportunity.

Coincidentally I just rewatched the Pupa anime and was planning to read the manga.
