This specific anime is based on the currently-running sequel (of sorts, since it stars a brand new cast but is set in the same world) to a three-decade-old manga, technically, but glad to hear that the anime starts off on a very good foot. The original Firefighter manga (& even the anime movie based on it from 2000) is absolutely outstanding, a true "Best Manga No One Read" candidate, so nice to see that the sequel might be able to keep up with where it came from.
