It feels to me like the show's writers are starting to find themselves in a bit of a rough spot. They want to tell a continuing story, but I'm willing to bet that they're also obligated to keep this series going until the next main series Pokemon game is released, and we really have no idea how long that will be. Scarlet and Violet came out almost three years ago and no sequel has even been announced (at this rate, most likely the earliest we would get a new game is fall of 2026.) So there's a chance the anime might end up stuck in filler hell as they can't wrap up the story until Generation 10 drops.

There are some highlights in this batch like the Tinkatink and Mollie episodes, but overall this is where the cracks within Horizons really start to come to roost. It wants to be more serialized and grander in scope than the Ashime, but doesn't have the tools (somewhat on a narrative end but especially on an animation end as OLM's production pipeline has completely fallen apart at this point) to fully facilitate that ambition. So you end up with an awkward middle ground that isn't entirely satisfactory no matter what angle you take on it as it just settles into the very boring last stretch of capturing the obligatory special Pokemon
This is also where the show's head writer Dai Sato really starts to disappear, only here for the mostly very dull episode about the Crystal Pool and not even any of the big story revelations

Let's be honest
This show would be a million times better if the crew took thr digimon route and focus more on story and less on staying in sync with the games.

That's the thing, Horizons isn't in sync with the games at all. Nothing about Scarlet and Violet is really adapted (the anime implies that in fact the events of SV happened earlier), the show barely takes place in Paldea, and it revolves around the mystery behind Terapagos (who wouldn't show up in the games for another year after the start of Horizons) and Black Rayquaza (who has nothing to do with the games at all). The show is doing its own thing without much regard for brand synergy besides Liko, Roy, and Dot having the Paldean starters

The pacing on Horizons more than anything is what really killed my interest in the show. There's a lot to like about it but it feels like you could be telling the exact same story in a fraction of the time and lose nothing, it's like each episode only has exactly one plot point of consequence in it and everything else is just dragging their feet to get there. Like, if you're going to drag the story out for so long you could at least just outright be doing individual self-contained filler stories that might actually be fun instead of just making everything move like molasses.

As someone who attempted watching it subbed via not so legit means shortly after 2 parter intro had aired in Japan I liked the concept of the anime but it sounded like got a bunch of modern J Pop Idols & had them use the high pitch voices that they use or singing but have them talk like it. I decided to try again when the dub officially came out & shockingly preferred it as I'm a subtitle enjoyer for the seasons Indigo-Johto, Black & White-Journeys while I prefer dubs for the Ruby Sapphire-Diamond Pearl because nostalgia bias. Don't get me wrong I will always check out the Pokemon dub of the anime once it officially comes out to see what changes were made & that's what i show people trying to get into the franchise.

As someone up to date with the sub, trust me it gets better. It's a solid show. Pokémon always had filler like episodes along the way it's not that bad. It's anime original there's no manga for it.
