If Eri actually appears in this I will be glad, she's only appeared in two of the last 275 episodes.

Interesting choice for a special, lol. I wonder if it'll re-use the footage from Eps 772 & 773 or if they'll reanimate it from scratch? The show's color scheme has changed since those days, so maybe they'll just modify the colors if they don't wanna redo it entirely...
Regardless, I'll look forward to seeing what they do!
If I recall correctly, I think she was only mentioned in this case. But if there are new scenes it would be nice to see her again.
There are quite a few plot threads left to resolve, but it definitely feels like we're inching towards a climax of sorts. It'll probably still be a while, but from a plot standpoint I'd say the end is in sight.
If it's part of the regular airing of the series, and not just a rerun of the eps that are already on CR, then yes it probably will. |

^Hmmm a thought occurs to me. Which will end first? One Piece or Case Closed? One Piece is for suie on the cusp of the Climax. All depends on how long Elbaph goes on and ends because after that I can see 2-3 arcs left with one of them being super long.

I’m starting to think One Piece will end first. Conan takes more breaks nowadays. |

And also there is that detective conan is absolutely a ton of induvial character stories and a slowly (but more focused lately) main story. Compared to one piece which really does do one storyline at a time that is generally related to "the main story" one piece has a ton more momentum in its main story PS Please can we get more Eri, yusaku, and yukiko appearances. eri is a lawyer it shouldn't be that hard to include her instead of introducing a traffic cop that does nothing and yet still giving her a movie.... no I am not bitter thank you for asking |

Just looking at the wiki, out of the last 50 episodes of the anime, 20 episodes were canon. And of those 20, only 1 is lacking any meaningful content tags -- and it's only been a few weeks since the last major mini-arc with Rum/BO. The manga may not be putting out as many cases now as it used to, but the cases that are coming are much more focused on pushing the story forward than the used to -- just compare those content tags to recent seasons of the anime to those from 10 or 20 years ago. The age of filler -- in the manga at least -- seems to be over.
Yeah, this is my main concern with the ending. There are a LOT of dangling story threads in Detective Conan, and very few (if any) of them could be wrapped up at the same time as the "main plot" (such as it is) with the Black Organization and Apotoxin. Some of which haven't been touched on... well, in 10 or 20 years. Case in point, Agasa's old flame, who we literally last saw alongside dialog to the effect of "I'm sure you'll meet again much sooner than another ten years" ... approximately twenty years ago. And that's not even getting into the mess with resolving all of Kaitou Kid's stuff, which intersects with Conan in all sorts of weird ways now thanks to some recent (ish) retcons. |

Honestly I AM SHOCKED that the series is able to try and pretend that what we are seeing in detective conan it takes place in a "modern day setting" while having setting have 30 YEARS WORTH OF CHANGES IN IT. Remember when one of conans gadgets that he basically never uses in the manga anime (comparatively) was a FAX MACHINE DESIGUSED AS A BENTO BOX!!! and now it's not at all weird to anyone that a first grader has MULTIPLE SMARTPHONE CONSTANLY ON HIM.
and then there is the issue of everything we seen in the series taking place (canonically) in less then 6 months I am pretty sure. A school year even in japan is that much more then 9 months and none of these SCHOOL KIDS have gone to the next grade yet, and also somehow in all this time Shinichi and his parents have not been shown to be getting in trouble for his extended absence and is still actively considered to be a part of his high school class still. Now to be fair, I just recently learned that everything we have seen in one piece takes place in roughly 6 months as well...... that one honestly hurt because it is unnecessarily unbelievable to me. conan it's just something we accept about the premise, where as one piece it is just somehow there |

Honestly that aspect never bothered me. That degree of suspension-of-disbelief is extremely common not just with comics/animation in general (Superman hasn't aged a day in more than a century) but also with this genre of fiction, specifically. Murders, in generally, aren't exactly common enough for a single person to run into one every other time they walk out the front door, let alone mysterious murders.
But we roll with it because we like seeing Poirot exercising his little grey cells. |

The weird thing about conan is that one week the show is set in the 90s the next it's set in the 00s and then the next it is set in the 10's/20's that is not something I have seen a series do before. Most shows "set in modern day" don't keep drastically updating what that means. Even shows/ series that do go hey we are always set in "modern day" also have the series internal time advance at the same pace....and conan absolutely does not do that.

Uh… what? The series is always set at the same time: the present. Outside of flashback stories, each chapter takes place at approximately the same time as it was published. With the in-universe “present” constantly shifting forward.
The only way you’d see the setting jump back and forth like that would be by watching (or reading) through everything in a completely random order. |

What I am talking about is not a big deal and doesn't really matter. that said it is a very interesting oddity I think. I will try to explain what I am talking about again in a different way. One piece takes place (not counting the flash forward) with in 6 ish months just like Detective Conan. The setting is set in a fantasy world and when new elements come into the setting we are introduced to them. we do not see the world progressing around them in ways that aren't outside of a character in the stories control. It doesn't matter it has been 30 years since the story started for us, because their world has only advanced 6 months. The dresden files is a murder mystery book series about a wizard set in modern day chicago acting as a detective. Each book roughly takes place a year apart from each other. therefore the release year of the book lines up with the year in which the story takes place in. THUS you see the introduction of new Modern Technology or other setting changes happen gradually. So one book the characters don't have a cell phone, then in another book they have a computer with internet in their house, then they get cell phones in another book, then they have smart phones and use apps because time has passed in the story and the "Modern day" is no longer the 90s where the series started but the 2010s. That's because while time is advancing in our world over 20 years it is also progressing in the story as well. Meanwhile you have detective conan telling the reader, yes this is 2010s now, everyone would of course have a cell phone. while at the same time saying our story began in the 90s and everyone is still in their same exact classes and 6ish months have passed since conan became a first grader. Most series pick a lane and stay in it. either our story starts here and time progresses according to our worlds time, or the world of the story advances at it's own time. The only thing I can think that comes closes is the ace attorney english translations where the translation instead of taking place in japan it takes place in "japaniforna" where it is an alternative world line where California is extremely Japanese culturally. to explain that YES this is in america but it is a very Japanese state in america |
