I'm definitely enjoying this show. I got spoiled on the twists in episode 1 by reviews/comments but the way it's playing the really absurd scenario is keeping me entertained. The scene of the girls taking down the bandits by creative application of their bowling gear was indeed peak fiction, I was bent over laughing.

I feel like the character drama is also slightly tongue in cheek. Like, I get that Rina is the classic archetype of the one "serious" girl that doesn't go along with the rest until she's won over, but the fact that she's willing to stand up and leave in the middle of the night, in Sengoku Japan, in an active war zone, just hours after she risked being raped and killed by rogues is so over the top that I can't possibly take it fully seriously. I think the joke here really is "watch these girls carry out the genre tropes without missing a beat in the most insane setting possible" and I'm game.

This anime really feels like something I would have watched dubbed in the early 2000s on Fox Kids on Saturday mornings. The tone and some of the writing is a bit all over the place, but there's something very charming about it and I can't wait to see if they go for some crazy emotional swing at some point.

I debated even checking this show out...glad I did. It's oddly charming. Hope that hand sanitizer supply holds out.

I think that's on the mark, the show in general feels purposefully farcical in a number of ways. Like I can't be the only one to think that the OP centering around the girls playing instruments for no reason has to be a joke

I don't know how all their bowling bags and gear came through with them, when only Mai was holding on to only her bowling ball at the time, while the rest were hanging on to each other. But I can't worry over it much since I know it'll never be explained, and for this, probably doesn't need to be.

It's an interesting series, but if Rina doesn't fix her attitude pretty soon, she might drive me off. Which is ironic, since she was the only character I liked from the premier. There she came across as dedicated and ambitious, but under these new circumstances she's just pigheadedly stupid.

The fact that each of these girls have their own color has me convinced that not only are they time travelers, but they’ll be sentai before the end of the show.

So you're saying not only is this not "Cute Girls Doing Cute Things: Bowling Edition", it's not even "Isekai Bowling Edition", but actually "Cute Girls Doing Cute Things: Sentai Isekai Bowling Edition"? That might be too much for one show.

I think the color-coding is for the future idol group.

Which reminds me: why did we not call Red Ranger an Isentai show while we could?

Your bowling scores look pretty close to mine last time I went bowling Crying or Very sad

I'm enjoying this show a lot so far! I have no idea where it'll go. I love the OP, which starts off so happy then heads to girls crying in the rain while playing their instruments and people committing suicide and stuff. That plus the letter from ep 1 makes me really interested in how this journey changes the girls. I feel like they won't be the same people by the end, and not just in a "we resolved our issues and are besties now!" type of way.
I got spoiled on the twist but I might not have watched it if I hadn't known about it (and the d4dj cameos).

The animation is also really great. There's some really lovely touches and character animations and stuff, it's fun to rewatch some scenes to see how characters move.

The way they fought the bandits was so genius. I hope we get more stuff like that.

No clue what this show is gonna be like by the time it ends but for now I've been looking forward to the next ep each week

What if her biggest character arc drama is when it runs out...

Did I miss what was on Rina's paper?

Was it... the flyer Mai gave her when she asked her to sign up?

I don't think so. I'm pretty sure that they never showed us what was on the paper.

I don't think so. I'm pretty sure that they never showed us what was on the paper.

I think that's pretty well implied, though. This episode gives every indication that the bowling club is a lot more important to Rina than she lets on.

On a different note, the bowling sequence in episode 4 reminded me of one curious fact that I noticed from the opening episode: Mia is a lefty.

I can't see how that would make a significant difference in a bowling series (unlike, say, a baseball or boxing series), but the stance and way you balance your body when bowling left-handed vs. right-handed is a little different. That the series is clearly taking pains to animate that correctly suggests that it's considered an important detail.

My biggest question with this show so far is how are their cell phones still working?
