Indeed, logical article to put together. Though I wonder if its better at the start or end of a season? When do people think about moving to the source material?
Its interesting to think on how consumption of source material relates to anime (aside from the now common "go to source because the adaptation will never complete the story"). For really excellent material, consuming one just makes me keen to see it in the other version as well (Frieren next season is a great example). On the other hand, for material thats merely "good", having consumed the source material can zero out my interest in the anime (or vice-versa). Vigilantes is this for me; I'd certainly watch it if I hadn't read the manga, but having done so- while I did enjoy it, I feel no need to experience the story twice. |
