Absolutely deserved

Easily the most well-written anime of the year. Shame Crunchyroll won't give it any awards because it is just a popularity contest

First, it's not technically anime, so it wouldn't qualify for those awards.

Second, while I agree that it's a pretty solid series (it's impressed me enough that it's the only donghua I'm keeping up with), and I do actually recommend it to people, it's not in the same league as the strongest writing efforts from the Winter season. (But that's also a pretty high bar for comparison.)

I'm not sure what you mean by "not technically anime" and "donghua", since Journal with Witch is animated by Shuka, a Japanese studio formed by former staff from Brain's Base that has done Durarara and 91 Days among other series.
