A few months earlier, a truth agreement was signed between the two forces, both of which were happy to see an end to the fighting. I sure hope it turns out okay. But I won't be too disappointed if it isn't up to snuff either, because the game still exists. Themes will be adjusted accordingly, depending on how much they adapt or diverge from. It's a little ironic this is coming out the same time Aristocrat Appraisal Skill is, because, to me, the latter feels very much like Suikoden in spirit: young kid thrust into adopting this ideal, has to recruit a bunch of people to build his army, then face the political machinations of various persons and/or factions to build a better world. I will probably do a lot of comparisons to the video game to give the utmost amount of context possible, whether or not the anime actually adapts core parts of the games' story and themes. So if the posts seem a little long, apologies in advance. The story in the games really is that good. Anyway, I also highly recommend the remastered I + II Collection for anyone who has never played these. They are pretty simplistic in presentation compared to other JRPGs from that era, but the character recruitment is really fun, the gameplay is satisfying, the soundtrack is stellar, and the story is freakin' phenomenal. |
