Hello, I was reading in the encyclopedia on Akira by Katsuhiro Otomo and it says that there is a different ending in the Epic Comics version (There were 38 comics in full color) I happen to own the Epic Comics version and I loved this series. Anyways, I was at borders and looked through the last couple books of Akira published by Dark Horse and everything looked the same except the black and white and some more swearing. Does anybody know what differences there are between the two versions if there is any? Thanks.

The encyclopedia is misleading. From what I understand Japanese readers were displeased with the original ending (which was around volume 5 I believe), so Otomo scrapped it and drew additional matterial to wrap it up better and differentiate it from the movie. Unfortunatally I can't seem to find where I read this (maybe PULP?) so I could be wrong. Aside from the colored pages and diffrent translation I don't think there are too many major diffrences between the editions, though I've heard that some scenes featuring nudity were censored out.
