Outstanding series.

And yes there is a manga. There were only 7 volumes tho, I doubt that there is a whole lot more to the story considering the length.

Both the manga and the anime were liscensed by Viz recently.

It has issues with designs. So much so that it detract from enjoyment and makes the show feel bad.

I have heard that before king micah and while I agree that the designs are unconventional, I disagree that they take away from the enjoyment of the show.

As far as character designs go, they do take a whole lot of getting used to, but eventually they fall into the background. SaiKano is one of the best (if not the best) anime I've ever watched. There's never a moment lost, no filler or recap episodes, no wasted motion. It's awesome from start to finish.

although I could see how someone might be turned off by the character designs due to its "unconventional" style.....I personally like it because of the animation has that "manga" feel to it..........

and while the plot might be too "out of this world" for some people.......the characters' emotions are as real as it gets.............

Man I love this show.....
its simply outstanding. A great love story. So human. Full of ambivalent feelings, its ups and downs.. it tells you alot about human nature.. altough its somewhat deppresing Sad really sad and so beautiful Smile
The desging is genius! I mean, when I saw it for the first time I wasnt very sure if I like it... but now Smile it is jsut so.. unique Smile but I like it very much...
little ashamed to say but when I watched to fansubs few years back I cried Embarassed
yeah... I also saw the manga before it got licensed - its also good, but I like the anime better Smile

Okay... think of the sadest experience you've ever had in your life, multiply it by 10000000000000000 an enjoy.

It's a tragedy of two lovers and how one is the only hope for the salvation of the world, but when it's done, your heart feels as empty as the ending.

This may seem like it sucks but the experience and sadness you get from something that isn't real is unbelievable.

I thought my mom was stupid when she got teary eyed watching something on TV, but that was because i never experienced something as sad as Saikano.

Dont leave out the fact that their relationship is very REAL. (I mean... Saikano itself isnt very realistic, but the love motiv certainly is!).
They are like normal school students. There are no big fireworks after they kiss, they get together not because they loved each other. But with time - love appears. And the whole series is like a big documentary of those two love. Its very real. So human Smile and so incredibly sad Sad

Exactly what made it the finest anime I've seen to date. You can totally feel what's going on with these two (and their friends), which brings you much closer to what's going on in the show. It's phenomenal.

the character designs seem very controversial, but when you look past that and see the real meat it's quite... i don't know, I wanna say beautiful but it's not the word...
but, close.
