Just read a list of this year's free comics for Free Comics Book Day, and in the manga department, I noticed Shonen Jump Sampler 2008, which is probably "meh", and most suprisingly, Drawn & Quarterly will be releasing Gekiga; A D&Q Manga Sampler 2008. I'm totally hyped for the latter, and I presume it'll contain some a Tatsumi short or two from Goodbye and a bit of Red Colored Elegy. And who knows, they might have something else in store too...
Also on a side note, Dark Horse's free comic will have a Hellboy and a BPRD story, plus Mignola cover! Anyways, this looks to be a better FCBD than last. Best comic last year was prolly' that Pantheon City short in DH's thing. |

I can't remember if ANN posted FCBD press releases in the past, so I guess it couldn't hurt. The Shonen Jump booklet it hardly surprising, but very nice news about the Geikiga sampler. D&Q is really on the ball, which isn't all that surprising given their past record (what the hell is Fantagraphics doing?) I'm sure that Tokyopop will release a couple samplers (probably for both manga and OEL books), and CMX will surely put out a booklet as well. |

Oh yeah, I completely forgot Tokypop put out one last year. Didn't see it anywhere though... Didn't know the SJ sampler was a regular either, huh. You can forget all them though, my eyes are on the Gekiga one, and hopefully nab a few copies of it to share with some friends. |
