why cant inuyasha just use the jewel shards he gets to become stronger
or would using the jewel shards turn him little by little in to a "full-fledged demon" |

I always wondered this myself. lol I came to the same conclusion, about the demon. that or just Kagome wouldn't let him.

I'd lean more towards that.
It is a good point to be brought up. Really, why doesn't Inu-Yasha use the shards for himself? He would be able to kick some major booty if he just ate a few shards...Perhaps the reason lies in the fact that if they ever do get all the shards, but Inu-Yasha's swallowed three or four of them, then the Jewel wouldn't be complete, unless Inu-Yasha swallowed the rest of them, and I doubt anyone (except Inu-Yasha) would really like that. ~Ore wa Monkey D. Inu-Yasha might not want the jewel shards anymore. I mean, when he learned about the past behind the jewel and spoiler[he turns into a mad demon near vol. 16 ] I don't think he want it.
IY wants to protect Kagome, but even without the shards, he is getting pretty powerful. He excels many strong demons in strength and is getting stronger. |

It could be that the jewel can't work on him due to his nature as a half-demon. Could also be that the partial purification may happen, use of the shards could weaken him and turn him more human.

After all Naraku is a spoiler[hanyo(half-human half-demon)] so he wants all of the jewel too to become more evil and whatnot, also the jewel/shards has been used to revive people, heal wounds, and increase the user power/wisdom a lot. Alumight, the guy who did that to his sword was Bankotsu and his weapon is called the Banryuu.

Hey guys if you've seen the flashback episodes, you'd know that Inu-Yasha bosts about using the Jewel to become a demon, but really he wants to be full human.

Yeah, but then, the story doesn't focus on him wanting the jewel shards anymore. Now, they are focusing on getting the shards and killing Naraku andspoiler[his underlings, or "offspring".] Oh, and also the relationships between IY, Kagome and Kikyo triangle and Sanga and Miroku's relationship.

But the flashbacks imply that it was spoiler[Kikyo's idea for him to become human and that he would do it for her. Now that she's "dead" and Kagome is complicating his feelings he may not want to be human.]
As for wanting to become a full demon, that idea seemed to tamper off after spoiler[he transformed and killed all those 'innocent' people.] Originally, it seemed that it was a trust issue. How would Kagome know that Inuyasha wouldn't take the shards and high-tail it out of there? Now, I'd say it's just become habit. Even if he was holding them on his person, that would make it easier for others to take it, as he usually gets close to the opponents to fight them. Remember when he spoiler[took the shard from Kagome before pushing her down the well? When that huge wolf-spitting demon came and attacked him, the jewel popped out and was up for grabs.] And if demons get close enough to pound him on the head, impale him, scratch his face, etc. then what would stop them from grabbing the jewel? |

The shards alone don't turn a person into a demon or a human. You've got to have the whole thing. That's why neither Naruto nor Inuyasha have used it.
Kagome has used it...back in the first episode. She was fighting the centipede demon in the well when she got dragged into it. I look forward to seeing Kagome use it again! |

Naruto? Don't you mean Naraku?
Anyways, if Inu Yasha actually took the shards, I doubt he'll get far. Number one, Naraku's gang would hunt him down, and #2, all Kagome has to do is say "SIT!!!" |
