The Shadow Dragon saga of GT is by far the best yet!! If you haven't gotten these yet I highly recommend getting them as soon as you can. Don't listen to what everyone else has to say because they probably havn't even seen them. I'll admit I was getting tired of GT but it earned me back with these. I also think the VA's have improved. What da ya think?

I think you need to watch more anime. Better anime. I still hate all of FUNimation's voices, I still can't stand their crappy dub music, and I'd like to avoid all endorsements of any further FUNimation produced dubbing.
But don't get me wrong, I'm not like those people who hate and hate a company forever and ever just because of some dubbing mistakes. I have nothing personal against the company or the voice actors themselves, and I applaud them for supposedly doing much better in their latter titles like Fruits Basket and Blue Gender. It's just that since DBZ was the series that really got me interested in anime and that I orginally watched the Ocean dubs, I hold a little more bias when considering the changes that were later made.
Anyway, that's just me. And welcome to the forum!

Thanks for the welcome!
I think that is how a lot of old DBZ fans feel about it. Thats why I think some people might be over looking GT and labeling it so quickly. GT is a good anime, I have seen a lot of anime and, yeah it may have had its struggles at one point or another but it is really good now. If you haven't seen it in a while just pick one up and check it out. I think you would be surprised, i know i was. I really like it now and i think you would too, especially if it was Dragon Ball Z that brought you into anime in the first place! Just give it another shot, you never know what could come from it.

Meh. I'm not too excited about the aspect of buying a FUNimation product, but I guess I'll put it on my "Things to Buy" list and then possibly consider it someday.
Of course if I do buy it, I'll watch it strictly in Japanese.

I would just quote Tony K. but that wouldn't be original.
I personally am not going to waste time watching a poorly dubbed show that is based on filler only. I didn't even like the few episodes of the original version of GT. Its just...blah.

I think GT was rightfully labeled a failure financially and with the fans. And I'm talking about in Japan. In America, history seems to be repeating itself as interest in this show seems to be non existant.

The last six episodes in GT were the only ones that interested me, and they turned out pretty good.

Dragon Ball GT has some of the best music in the Dragon Ball series, and watching it in Japanese is the only way to hear it.

While reccomendations are always nice, sadly I gotta say "pass" on this one. Simply because its an even worse version of Z, and uses the same formula with even more annoying characters.
If anything, check out the original Dragonball, if you've not really gotten into the whole franchise thingo.

I gotta second this. Personally, I thought GT was garbage; I didn't even like it that much when I was a DBZ fan. Short of a slight improvement in music & animation quality, the whole thing just reeks of a pathetic attempt to keep a franchise alive well beyond its time. I'd say stick with Dragon Ball, and Dragon Ball Z if you're really a fan. Definitely pass on this.

I thought that the last 7 or 6 eps were pretty good. But i also found the Super 17 saga to be pretty good to for some reason.

I still want to know what Funimation was thinking when they used rap for the theme song --_-- (grrrrrr).
As for GT though, i just didn't like it that much. I used to be a major hard core DBZ fan, now i'm just a regular fan. But even when i was really into DBZ i didn't like GT all that much. The main part i liked was when Piccolo had to trick Enma into sending him to hell. Now that was funny

The first animes I saw were DBZ and DBGT.
Now I don't understand why I have ever watched it cause now I really can't watch that stuff anymore.
Anyway what I am trying to say is when I "enjoyed" watching the DB series I found DBZ way better than DBGT..
Imo if you are new to anime and you watched DBZ and liked it.. Quit there in the DB series and don't spend your money to DBGT, try something else, if you like fighting you can still choose over a big range of animes.
There are waaaaaaaaay better animes than db/dbz/dbgt. Of course this also may have to do with the fact that I am now 19 years old. Age is a very important aspect in these series I think(imo 12-14 years?)
But ok this is just my opinion about it.
PS. Yay! my first post ;.;

The only good thing about GT were the credits to episode 64.

In Japan there wasn't really a DBZ, if I remember right. They just split up the series in the US for marketing reasons.
