Yes, yes and yes.
Goggle for what supplies are commonly needed. Try E-Bay. Matt |

You'll also need some very big machines.

lol. It depends on exactly what you mean by 'animate'. It sounds like you want to bite off more than you can chew. But, if you just want to do some 'cels', a doujinshi (fan-manga), or something, there might still be hope. If you want to do "Hoshi no Koe (Voices of the Stars)"....keep in mind it took them 3 years (I think) to do 30 minutes of animation via digi programs. |

You could always use Flash animation. You can find tools for it online. It's what most web caroonist use. So, you'd be in great company.

Maybe you can get them in any leading bookstores. I get them there. The only thing is, you will spend a lot of money on it! |

God, it's like the blind leading the blind...
From what I can infer from the wording of your subject line and subsequent post, I'm going to guess that you're probably into amateur animation and/or are probably around highschool or college age. Because if you weren't, you probably wouldn't be asking about "special kinds of tools." I think the best course of action (haha, I'm so punny) would be to enroll in an art institution or find a school that offers an animation program. There you'll be able to fine tune your skills and be exposed to more resources than you could probably acquire on your own. I'm not an expert in the field of animation, but what I would recommend would be to keep doing what I'm assuming you've been doing; messing around with sketches, small hand-drawn flip animations, and maybe some digital animation as well. Here's a site that offers animation supplies to professional or amateur animators: http://www.chromacolour.com/store/welcome_usa.htm Best of luck to you and your endeavors. |
