After the usual childhood introduction to anime (Astroboy, Kimba etc. on TV), I faded out for a long while.
When I finally got back into anime seriously in 2000, I bought Ghibli's My Neighbours the Yamadas and laughed so much I eventually showed it to my mum (my family resembles that one a lot). She loved it!
We saw Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi together at the local university's discount screening and she was rapt.
Since then, she kept pestering me to play some more of my anime DVDs. I showed her Porco Rosso and Omoide Poroporo but she says none of them have the same impact as Yamada-kun...
