Amusing idea...but yeah, you can't just steal characters like that...unless you are just making a few doujinshi bucks.

Making it into an official work just isn't going to fly.

The manga seemed like lazy fanfiction. Is one of the evil characters supposed to be Aletta (Restaurant to Another World) lmao? If so, I would love to hear what Junpei Inuzuka had to say about her depiction in this manga…

How could an editor give this the ok with Japan's track record regarding parody and copyright infringement?

As Mushoki character writer said, making parodies of other stories aint the problem, but making them to similiar and doing vile things was to much,

I have no interest in this but has the Mushoku Tensei author not read his own work?

I'm an anime-only with this show but...nobody really reminded me of another character...aside from Eris being Shana-ish lol

It was the character exactly like another character doing vile things that he had a problem with. He was perfectly fine with the doing vile things part.

The thing I’m still curious about is why the author even felt like this was an idea worth moving forward with to begin with. I still feel like the core idea itself was alright at best; just...the execution of it was one of the worst things I’ve seen in a while. Like I said in one of my earlier posts in the previous discussion about this manga, it’s literally bad crossover fanfiction-tier bad.

They should’ve seen this coming with how they expanded on their initial idea for this series. If the manga wasn’t cancelled yesterday, it would’ve either gotten quietly shelved at some point in the near future or abruptly halted due to several lawsuits.

I am all for 'revenge' stories, whether they are bloody, cruel fates for the villains or supreme gamesmanship themes. But at the end of the day the victim must have and deserve their revenge.

This manga can be redeemed, just don't use other people's characters.

My main concern with this story, is it really a revenge story or a "kill them all, the innocent and the guilty.

Looks like I was right, it was getting way too close to multiple copyright violations. He needs to create some original characters next time he does a revenge story of this magnitude as there is no such thing as fair use in Japan and official works that are parodies can cause you to step on toes pretty easily.

What a shame. Laws regarding parody are to strict in Japan, this doesn't seem any different than South Park with regards to using other people's characters.

As someone who is sick and tired of the isekai trend and wishes it would go away, the concept honestly sounds absolutely hilarious. Apparently other series have done the exact same concept and done it better, though.

He doesn't care that the characters do "vile things", he cares about the concept of "taking other people's characters and making them do vile things"

I get that people are getting tired of the glut of male power fantasy isekais, and while I think this work just sounded mean-spirited I can see why someone would want to parody those.

I just hate that it included Katarina, who is from a shoujo and not a male power fantasy, and in fact an important character for girls and women, being both kind and having (I think) a lot of inner strength. Yes, she can be oblivious but she does step up to protect what's important to her.

No disrespect or ill will intended towards this manga's author, this is just how I feel about that part of the work.
