It was a fun watch with a lot of cute moments and great facial expressions. Really fun indeed until about episode 11 or so. Then it just turns into "wait, we forgot a plot" and then suffers from shitty end syndrome. I'd buy the first two volumes if you're a fan of the show and just forget the last one. Shame really, it could have been so much better.

There is one way in which Magikano distinguishes itself from creatively bankrupt but vaguely amusing series like Maburaho and Happy Lesson: it isn't even vaguely amusing. Which, in the name of succinctness, we'll for now blame solely on Magikano's cast. Where the others could be vaguely amusing because their cast was at least tolerable,

Confused You must have watched a different Maburaho and Happy Lesson than I did (or maybe our tastes in harem shows are just that different). I've agreed with a lot of your reviews, but that passage right there convinced me to push this one aside. Infact, upon finishing the 1st vol., the main thought that crossed my mind was "Well, its definitely far more entertaining than Maburaho and Happy Lesson." Aw well, I expected this to get bad reviews anyways, I was just kind of surprised by that comment.
I'll still look forward to your next review though Wink

ADV throws a platoon of veteran voice actresses at this title, all of whom immediately begin serving up thick, steaming slices of comedic ham. It's largely thanks to them, and the script's occasionally amusing rewrites, that the series works marginally better as a comedy in English.

If it wasn't for how entertaining and fun the English dub sounds on this series (and most especially Jessica Boone's awesome portrayal of Ayumi), I wouldn't have spent the money on Magikano. The series in indeed marginal at best.

I would have thought the series deserved a few points for more or less eliminating the male lead by making him a cipher with nearly no screentime and focusing on comedy with the female cast.

It's a parody of harem anime...with the usual failing of anime parodies in that it fails to go far enough in mocking its chosen genre and ends up as more like just a sillier version of the genuine article.

Magikano isn’t brilliant, but I thought it was worth watching once. It’s definitely funnier then Maburaho or Happy Lesson.

Someone deserves a kick in the pants for the pretenious meta-textual trick at the end, though.

I totally agree with this review. I barely managed to stomache through the first episode before giving up. Really surprised it got licensed but I guess I shouldn't be with the other crap that gets licensed.

I don't think it's as horrible as the reviewer makes it out to be, but it's nothing memorable.

I laughed out loud enough at some of the humor that that's basically what kept me watching. ANy time I was getting bored, a character would say something that would make me choke on my drink.

I saw the same Maburaho as he did, as I really enjoyed it a lot more than Magikano. That's one of the my least favorite animes of all time. We've all just have different tastes...Smile

Wha... this... this review is so wrong on so many levels. If you don't understand a show one little bit, why bother reviewing it?

It might be a little more constructive if you explained exactly why you thought the review was "wrong on so many levels".

Well i think the review is wrong. Sure the ending kinda sucked, but it's definately enjoyable to watch if you into fanservice. Also sure the dub ain't perfect but it's a hell a lot better than Rannma 1/2. Hopefuly a second season would come out and change people's minds or at least the manga version.
