I get the feeling he's not very aware that a translator will probably be more comfortable by localizing from the japanese than basing it on an amateur translation, probably the best he could do is just offering contact with that translator in case they have some specific doubts about some ambiguous intent he can answer. But honestly if he's translating his novel by himself for free disposition for foreign fans and for a foreign publisher he accepts a more professional translation, that's all very cute and well intentioned, so right on!
