At least Iori and Leona (right) show up and get new outfits.

That's Leona and Athena in that screenshot, and Athena's outfit isn't really new. It's basically her old look reminiscent of the 80s.

While I won't exactly be surprised if "Castlevania: Judgement" sucks, I actually think it has a shot at being a fairly fun fighter for fans of the series. Or at least the fans that haven't completly bit their thumbs at it.

As much as there may be good things about Mega Man 9, the fact is the bad outweighs the good. How can someone honestly say that an artist who INTENTIONALLY tried to make an inferior looking game is somehow making something with any real appeal?

Should it be more difficult, yes? Should there be A STORY? Positively! but there shouldn't be some of the same hackneyed B.S. that came with the old Nintendo Mega Man games. I've played just about every Mega Man game (outside of the Legends series, and the later battle network games) there is and I can say that this is without a doubt the worst thing any fan could receive. It's a slap in the face and a kick to the balls followed by a victorious "Ha! Ha!" by the creator.

It's one thing to do a sprite based game. I loved the legends series games I played, and many of the past games. It's one thing to maybe not make story the TOP priority. However it's entirely another thing to intentionally make your game look absolutely dreadful because "It's nostalgic!" and to remove story almost entirely because "Oh nobody cares!"

I don't know about a lot of people, but I grew up with Mega Man, and I expected him to grow up with me, and over time he did (although at a slower pace.) yet this current move is just, well, retarded. I can't see how anyone can enjoy something like this now, short of blind devotion. I liked Mega Man 2, and 3, because they made the best with what they had at the time. I'll even re-play them sometimes because they remind me fondly of days past. However a NEW game's job is to make a new experience, and if technical limitations aren't forcing you to make it an 8-bit sprite based game then there's absolutely NO excuse to do so if you consider yourself a legitimate game producer. I can't believe that they went through with this.

Yes, the "(right)" attribution applies only to Leona. I haven't seen Iori in any of the screenshots, but he's on the official flyer with what looks like a new outfit. Or perhaps just new pants.

Funny, because I'm completely enjoying the fact that I'll be playing 8-bit Mega Man again. IMO it's the best thing Capcom could have done for Mega Man, bring him back to his roots. The nostalgia factor is what wins here.

Though sadly I still need to get a Wii before I can play Mega Man 9... even though I've been waiting for years upon years for it.

/goes find Wii

The only thing that bothers me is there isn't an option to unlock the Mega Buster and slide so that it makes sense story wise (though seeing I haven't played it yet, perhaps they explain this in the story?). Maybe there will be down the line (and no, while Proto Man counts, he doesn't count). Probably will play the game as Proto Man first because I'm so used to the charge shot...

Never really paid much attention to KOF, other than those Saigado hentai doujin.

Quote:
Capcom announced an Edgeworth-based spin-off called Gyakuten Kenji (or “Turnabout Prosecutor,” just as Phoenix Wright was “Turnabout Trial” in Japan) a while ago, but the game recently re-emerged with a spring release date, a website, and a spot in Capcom's Tokyo Game Show lineup.

Damn, whatever happened to that rumoured anime? BTW, you might wanna note that the manga from Del Rey should be out this week.

Quote:
Konami at least got Takeshi Obata (Death Note, Hikaru no Go) to redesign Castlevania icons for the game, even though many fans have balked at such frilly interpretations.

But they don't balk at all those frilly pretty Goth boys on the cover. Rolling Eyes

Mega Man games steadily grew easier after the NES original,

You obviously never played some of the X games.

Quote:
It doesn't invent some grand epic; instead, it just serves up a handful of narrative scenes, playing out Dr. Wily's elaborate framing of Mega Man's creator, Dr. Light. Mega Man, Roll, and Auto uncover the secrets of Wily's revolution, including a plot twist about robot self-preservation that's straight from the yellowed pages of Astro Boy.

What part of Mega Man isn't from Astro Boy? Wink

Turns out it's not an anime, but a Takarazuka musical. Talk about outta left field. Shocked

Ah, it wasn't clear. Since there are two characters in the screenshot, it's a bit confusing. Smile

Unless it's just shading/shadows, it also looks like he has a new red undershirt. It's usually white. Poor Iori, ignored for a costume change all these years. It'll be interesting to have him in something new.

I also can't stand Athena's new look. Crying or Very sad

Well, on Splash Woman vs Bees:

"...but all of this is countered by the fact that he has a magical hand that shoots bees. And that's why he takes the prize, because no matter who you are, the moment you're compared to a magical hand that shoots bees, you're going to ****ing lose."

Completely off topic but I wanted to mention a game that wasn't listed in the releases for last week or this week.

Please go buy de Blob, it's just... awesome. It's some of the best platforming gameplay evar on the Wii.

Back on topic, the september releases are pretty flippin' awesome. We have 3 great DS games with Kirby Super Star Ultra, Dragon Quest IV and what should HOPEFULLY be epic, Sonic Chronicles.

Also with some differenciated Wii releases with Wario Land: Shake It!, de Blob, Harvest Moon: Tree of Tranquility...

...And I'm sure the other consoles have done fine as well. It's not that I'm a nintendo fan, I just only have a Wii and DS, as well as a PS2 but... Not many games getting released for it lately, huh?

Oddly enough, I'm avoiding this Mega Man craze. I was into Battle Network for a while... Then I realized it was a action battle/trading card game hybrid. I never really had the desire to get into it, so everyone, enjoy it I guess...

*goes to arrange gamefly queue in order to figure out proper arrangement for upcoming weeks*

Here and I thought old school gamers would have more appreciation for not steadily going for better graphics, and not much of anything else. To be honest, you sound like an emotionally distraught fan who had wished for a fancy spangled ps3 megaman, and got this instead.

Oh well, while you're protesting a game that probably cost Capcom little to nothing to make in either money or time, I along with numerous others will be enjoying a fun 8-bit game. Very Happy

People balked at Obata doing the artwork for Castlevania Judgment? Jeez... I thought that was the game's only saving grace, aside from the graphics (which are pretty good - it actually looks like the GC would have trouble with it).

Did anyone tell Obata it's a castlevania fighting game and not a Death Note fighting game where the characters cosplay as characters from castlevania?

There's no question that the faithful will flock to this, but can it win over the Sonic fans who've long since strayed? I'm probably the wrong person to ask (I lost interest in Sonic when Tails came along)

Are you kidding me? Sonic 2 is when the games went from good to great. My brother and I spent countless hours tag teaming it as Sonic and Tails. The climax of the series is still Sonic 3 and Knuckles. 3 playable characters, each with slightly different levels and super modes, all combined into one crazy long(and hard!) platformer. It took me months to beat all those 3d special stages and get all the emeralds. Good times. Very Happy

I'm looking forward to Dark Brotherhood. I haven't had a Sonic game to be excited about since Sonic Adventure. They've all pretty much sucked since that one. I have faith in Bioware; they will pull this off.
