See, all you have to do when they ask to come over is go "Oh, sure, come over. What will you be bringing for the dinner? We could use a nice bottle of wine." Just sucker them into it, and maybe they'll get the hint.

I'm curious, do you think the first FMA series is going to be as popular once the 2nd FMA series is released in the US, given that it will supposedly be closer to the manga?

Yes, please, spread the word on "Moribito," it is an outstanding series!

As for "Fullmetal Alchemist" (or rather, the first "Fullmetal Alchemist," as I guess it is as of yesterday), I actually like the second half of the series better than the first. Free of the constraints of the manga, they were able to make up their own story and run wild with it, rather than shuffling around events and adding filler. As a huge fan of the manga, I may very well like the new series better (I'm waiting to watch it streamed legally), but that doesn't make the first one any less great.

I really have to watch Moribito. Thanks for reminding me to add it to my Netflix list.

I also like Faceman's way of making sure they bring something. Or tell them it's a potluck. Or tell them you have ebola or flesh-eating bacteria if you just don't want to see them.

The second one, of course, contains episodes 26 through 51 (and all the guide books), although I have a sneaking suspicion that they just repackaged the thinpaks that didn't sell last time.

I read on AOD that they removed the alternate angles and maybe an extra or two. Aren't there less DVDs in this re-release? The first 4-set release had all the original DVDs, didn't it? Which is why I'm buying those instead (although, it'd be great to have all the singles with their great covers).

Within the first few seconds of the show, it's very obvious that this is a very good-looking show

Are you referring to that god-awful CGI pan out? The show is lucky I didn't drop it right then and there, but you just can't escape it these days.

I did like the show though. Or the 10 episodes I've seen. I hope all that licensing crap gets sorted out soon.

Added Moribito to my Netflix list, removed D-Grayman. I'm sure Grayman is ok, but they monster of the week deal bores me after a while. And 100 eps is a lot to get through if there's not much plot. >.<

About Shuffle!
The inanity of these girls really kills the mood for me, sadly. I don't find their antics funny, because I wish I could punch them in the face.

Laughing You might be my new hero!
Personally, I found the 2nd half of that show to be some unintentionally hilarious stuff, but the aggravatingly lame and ear-grating 1st half keeps me from ever returning to that mess.

I can't crack eggs and I'm already in 7th grade... TT-TT

I sound like the just type of idiot who wouldn't be able to remember that Akuma level up and what not. (Do they really call them Akuma rather than Devils or something? Doesn't this story take place in ENGLAND?) Hmm, maybe when I finally get Netflix (I won't, probably) I will watch D-Gray Man. Or however you spell it.

I had high hopes for Shuffle! being something of a good harem show. (I am not a big fan of them but I am attempting to enjoy different genres of anime). I just recently finished the series and I agree with you 100%. At about episode 7 I almost stopped watching it. I paid money for this so I was like damn it I will finish it.

The show did pick up in the end but not enough to make me say this show was good. I doubt I will watch it again anytime soon, maybe in a few years to remind me about it. Harem shows seem to be a big hit and miss for me. Some I find funny/cute, combined with good characters/story to make it enjoyable to watch. Some are just forced and painful.

Oh my dream of finding something on Par with Please Teacher/Please Twins. Nothing of the various ecchi/harem shows I have gotten come close, I had hopes Shuffle! was it..alas not.

I keep meaning to watch Moribito - if only because it's one of the more recent series Mona Marshall has acted in - but I just can't seem to find the time...

Wasn't it on TV at some point? Confused

And even speaking as someone who enjoyed Shuffle, I really have to agree with this review. Suspension of disbelief doesn't even begin to cover it.

Nice review of Moribito there Bamboo. Smile

I remember reading a bit of hype about the show at first, which piqued my interest before it hit Adult Swim. Then I started watching it on tv and was really enjoying it until episode 13, because that was when...

*unclenches fist, refrains from hijacking thread by ranting at Adult Swim*

Now I'm just watching for the release date of the next volume (four) from Media Blasters to keep my love of the series going.

It is a show you can watch a couple times on dvd, once paying attention to the story, a second time to look at all the detail going on around the same. Moribito is an easy recommendation to anyone who hasn't seen it yet.

I hate Shuffle too. I only thought that Kaede was awesome because she was deranged.

Moribito definitely deserves more attention. I happy to read such a good review for it!

I almost didn't watch it because of the L'Arc de Ciel (sp?) song. I hate that group, and their music is used all the time.

I'm definitely going to try Moribito now, but first I think I'll attempt to get ahold of the book(s) first.
