Though you gotta admit, that part was really darn cool. Cool

Do we see Xellos all that much? I've been waiting for a price drop, but if he's as involved as Next or Try, I might be willing to buy sooner. I'll assume Rezo's a small role & Zel is in pretty much every ep. I just know Premium was disappointingly low on Xellos & of course none of the guys ever seemed to make it into the movies.

Not much of Xellos in the first half of Evo-R, but once he does show up, he freakin' shines. Cool

That does make it tempting at the next Funi sale (which will likely be 6 months from now. Funi sales seem to have a high turn-around time at TRSI)

Thanks.
I'd heard there was some issue Ishida maybe couldn't make the recording schedule, so I thought he was given a smaller role over that.

Anything Slayers is automatically the greatest thing ever, regardless of formula used. It nails down what makes fantasy work while making fun of the rest and for that it earns my eternal respect. Definitely my all time favorite anime series, and Lina Inverse my all time favorite character from anything. I firmly believe if you hate this, you are part of the anti-fun establishment.

I'm not sure how much it would be on sale on Rightstuf, but DeepDiscount has it at $30 for its summer sale, which has free shipping.

Slayers is Slayers, Lina Inverse is Lina Inverse-etc, etc.-but the fact is that Slayers is one of my all time favorite series. I do like the fact that they were able to get almost all of the originial cast together except David Moo as Xellos whom I do not miss one little bit-I HATED him. I just wished they had expanded on Naga's appearence a bit more.

It was one of the most hated dub voices until David Moo did Sanji. How one guy could do 2 nail-on-chalkboard dubs is beyond me.

Which is why one watches in Japanese. Akira Ishida is excellent. He started out as Xellos around the time he was Kaoru/Eva, but he's become very popular since.

I'll have to figure the TRSI sale price. I get One Piece for $27, but I don't know list on Slayers off the top of my head. If it's $59, then it's more likely $32, so it's a better deal at Deep Discount.

I like Slayers, but I'm rather disturbed by the aura of living death this review is conjuring. That's no way to go about telling a story.

That's easy. Right Stuf's usual company-specific sales take 40% off, so it's MSRP*.6 or (MSRP*.6)*.9 if you have a Got Anime membership (extra 10% off).

In this case it'd be $35.99 or $32.39, respectively.

I got this and Slayers evolution mostly for the nostalgia factor. I totally see calling it a "ten hour reunion" episode, but it felt like a reunion with old friends. Some of the jokes were a little stale; however, I'd say it was enjoyable overall.

Right now Deep Discount.com has a sale on anime and is selling this one for $29.17, if anyone's interested.

I would totally get this if I wasn't trying to get extra money to pay for the RomeoXJuliet manga that I pre-ordered in RightStuf's Yen Press sale.

After re-watching the original shows, EVOLUTION-R feels more like a sequal to the original than NEXT or TRY. Formula Slayers is still better than most other anime out right now, and anyways, when you already have such an awesome formula there's no reason to mess with it.
