Sound Decision - Haibane Renmei!

Ahorough review - but surprisingly no follow-up discussion, or the mention of one small point...

Recently encouraged by attractive sale prices for the Haibane Renmei set, I acquired the anime and was immediately taken by both the show and the score. Shortly after completing, went out and acquired this OST. Exquisite, as described in the column review. However, was surprised that the closing theme "Blue Flow" wasn't present - which I would have noticed had I examined the track list a bit closer. Apparently for some reason it wasn't acquired by Pioneer/Geneon for the US disc, though it is present on the JP OST disc (well, the short 1:20 TV edit anyway.) A brief bit of research later, discovered this was only available via an import single: "Blue Flow - Heart of Air", Lantis Record Co. #LACM-4078, thus quickly tracked down and purchased. Agreeably inexpensive too, for an import, about $8-12 USD and still fairly available.

It's well worth acquiring for anyone who wants this piece to complete their Haibane OST experience. It also contains 4 other tracks; two of "Blue Flow" as both the full length (4:55) ED piece plus an instrumental only version, an alternate version of "Ailes Grises" also with and without vocals (4:57 ea.) and finally an alternate "Blue Flow" version (1:55) much slower and instrument only - which I'm almost sure was used during one of the final episodes.

So that's it; "Blue Flow" isn't on the US disc, but if you enjoyed the OST you will very likely also love the single and it's other tracks. Seek it out!
