Trivia:

In episode 4 at 07:27 and in episode 7 at 04:02, the camera that appears in both scenes is a Rolleiflex Original that was manufactured by the German company Rollei (Franke & Heideke) in 1929.

In episode 14 at 03:24, the novel that the military police officer throws on the ground is titled “The Crab Canning Ship” (Kani Kousen or 蟹工船). It's a novel written by the leftist writer Takiji Kobayashi (小林 多喜二) in 1929 and deals with the crew of a crab fishing ship and their suffering under capitalist exploitation. The far right government that ruled Japan during the years that preceded World War II was well known for its prosecution of communist activists and its suppression of communist literature so anyone being caught reading such literature would be imprisoned at the very least if not tortured or killed.
