Wasn't released in the USA until 40 years after it aired in Japan.
Danbei, Junpei, Naojiro, and Goemon are all characters recycled from Go Nagai's Abashiri Family manga. Alphonne, Pochi, and the principal of Paradise Academy originated from Go Nagai's Kikkai-kun manga.
Episode 12 would air in theaters as part of the spring 1974 Toei Manga Matsuri.
Honey and Junpei are the only characters to appear in every episode.
Prior to voicing Ms. Alphonne, Noriko Tsukase had voiced Mr. Alphonne's wife and son in Devilman episode 10.
Coral Claw is modeled after Garamon from Ultra Q.
This is the only animated adaptation of Cutie Honey in which Natsuko never discovers Honey is an android.
Linda Yamamoto was originally considered to sing the theme song.
In episode 2, you can see Akira Fudo from Devilman appear in a crowd.
In episode 3, a poster of Tom Jones can be seen in the teachers lounge.
In Episode 9, one of Honey's disguises is that of Charlie Chaplin
In Episode 10 around 5:30, Honey is seen doing the Peko-chan after doing a joke on Alphonne
In episode 10, Honey transforms into a hunchbacked man who looks very similar to Demon from Mazinger Z episode 28. Both episodes featured Takeshi Shirado as the animation director.
In episode 11, Ms. Alphonne says it's her first time ever driving but she was seen driving a buggy in episode 9.
In Episode 20, one of Honey's disguises is a female version of Tarzan. She even does her variation of the Tarzan call.
In Episode 25, there are numerous visuals references to the film The Little Prince and the Eight-Headed Dragon. Specifically, the Eight-Headed Dragon appears as an illusion Honey battles.
