Description:
Being an indecisive psychic teenager is ESPecially troublesome!

Kyosuke's just your average high-school kid -- except that he and his whole family are cursed with psychic powers. It goes without saying that the last thing they want is for anyone to find out about the family secret.

Meanwhile, Kyosuke has a problem that most teenagers would pay to have: two pretty girls are in love with him.

Hikaru knows she loves Kyosuke, and she's made sure everyone knows it.

On the other hand, the mysterious and beautiful Madoka thinks that she loves Kyosuke, but she doesn't want anyone to know it -- even Kyosuke!

Poor Kyosuke can't decide whom he really loves, and his psychic powers are much better at getting him into trouble than they are at getting him out of it! Which means that things are never dull on Kimagure (Whimsical) Orange Road.

Kimagure Orange Road began as a hit Manga (Comic Book), which spawned a 48-episode TV series, a theatrical film, and 8 OVAs (Original Video Animations). AnimEigo's special 3-volume subtitled LaserDisc edition of Orange Road contains the 8 OVAs and the series-finale film which resolves the triangle.

One of the reasons Kimagure Orange Road was so successful in Japan (and is a cult favorite in America) is that in addition to being an unusual romantic comedy, it is a very realistic portrait of modern Japan, and what it is like to grow up there: Kyosuke not only has to deal with his ever-present homework, but also with his first no-win social dilemma-whom does he choose?

And, as the Zen saying goes, "To not choose is itself a choice." As he grows up, Kyosuke will learn this lesson.

On this, the first of three discs:

In "I was a Catl I was a Fish," a magical rope causes Kyosuke to swap souls, first with the family's pet goldfish, and then Jingoro, their cat. When he's found by Madoka and Hikaru, he gets a private lesson on how girls behave when they're alone.

Next, in "Hurricane! Akane the Shape-changing Girl," Kyosuke's tom-boy cousin Akane (who has the power to impersonate anyone) comes to visit -- and falls in love with Madoka!

On side 2, the gang visits Kyosuke's grandparents in the north of Japan for a skiing vacation, but an ancient curse causes an avalanche of trouble in "White Lovers."

Finally, in "Hawaiian Suspense,", a vacation in Hawaii goes awry when Hikaru is mistaken for an heiress and kidnapped! When Madoka browbeats Kyosuke into trying to rescue her, things get quickly out of hand.
