Manga creator Arina Tanemura (Full Moon wo Sagashite, Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne) posted hand-drawn fan art of Madoka, the female protagonist from the television anime Puella Magi Madoka Magica, on her Twiter account on Saturday. Tanemura drew the art after seeing the anime for the first time. The image also includes the mascot character Kyūbei.

Director Akiyuki Shinbo, series script supervisor Gen Urobuchi, original character designer Ume Aoki, and the anime studio Shaft developed the anime. In the story, Kyūbei approaches Madoka and makes her an offer: Madoka can have one wish, but in exchange she must become a Puella Magi, a magical girl who fights witches — a dangerous decision with consequences for one of her classmates.
