Danganronpa's Monokuma Gets Parka, Life-Sized Plush Toy

posted on by Karen Ressler
Anime adaptation of PSP game premieres July 4

Japanese publisher Enterbrain's ebten online store will be offering a parka and life-sized plush toy based on Danganronpa's Monokuma character. Both items have previously been available at Comiket, but sold out quickly and are now back by popular demand. The items will be available for pre-order from June 20 to July 22 at ebten's Danganronpa site, and will ship within the first ten days of September.

The parka retails for 5,229 yen (about US$55) and comes in three sizes. The plush toy is 65 centimeters (about 26 inches) tall and retails for 10,500 yen (about US$111).

The upcoming Danganronpa anime adapts Spike Chunsoft's PlayStation Portable action-adventure game. Persona 4 The Animation's Seiji Kishi is directing the series, which will feature the same cast as the game. Makoto Uezu is in charge of series composition and scripts, and Lerche is animating the project.

The story follows a group of high school students, each with a different exceptional talent, who are locked inside a school and told that the only way to escape is to kill another student without getting caught. After a murder, the remaining students must hold a trial with their lives on the line to find out who the killer is. In the story, Monokuma is the students' "teacher."

The anime will premiere on July 4 on MBS in the "Animeism" block.
