Tamashii Nations Combines Toy Story Characters Into 'Woody Robo Sheriff Star' Robot

Tamashii Nations, Bandai's high-end brand that is famous for anime collectibles, opened a webpage for a unique, combining robot toy. The cast of characters from Disney Pixar's Toy Story are joining forces to create the "Chōgattai Daisakusen Woody Robo Sheriff Star" giant robot. Woody, his trusty steed Bullseye, Rex, Hamm, and Slinky Dog all come together to take on foes like "Giant Trixie."

The 230mm tall (9in) Chōgattai Daisakusen Woody Robo Sheriff Star will go on sale in Japan on November 25 for 18,900 yen (US$176.50). The release will bundle a storybook.

Tamashii Nations is displaying the figure at the Tokyo Toy Show 2016 event at Tokyo Big Sight this weekend. Also displayed with the figure was a mock-up of "Transitron," the other robot in the above mini movie.

Transitron, a send up to Hasbro's Transformers toys, first appeared in the Toy Story of Terror! television special that aired in 2013. The special was later released on home video with a bonus toy commercial for the robot. The commercial is entirely in Japanese with narration by Toy Story 3 art director Daisuke "Dice" Tsutsumi. Interestingly, Tsutsumi is married to Hayao Miyazaki's niece.

Chōgattai Daisakusen Woody Robo Sheriff Star won't be the last Toy Story figure by Tamashii Nations. The company is teasing a Buzz Lightyear figure, with more information to be announced on July 21.
