Death Note, Rurouni Kenshin Actor Tatsuya Fujiwara Welcomes His First Child

34-year-old actor Tatsuya Fujiwara announced on his fan club website on Thursday that his first child was born. The gender and exact birthday of the child have not been shared. Fujiwara married his girlfriend of nine years in 2013. Fujiwara wrote, “This is a personal matter, but I have been blessed with a healthy child. The members of my family that I need to protect have increased, so I will need to work even harder than before to remain focused in my work. Please continue to cheer me on.”
Fujiwara is best known in the anime community for his portrayal of Light Yagami in the original live-action Death Note movies. He also played Makoto Shishio in the latter two live-action Rurouni Kenshin movies, Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Inferno and Rurouni Kenshin: The Legend Ends, and Shuya Nanahara in the movies Battle Royale and Battle Royale II: Requiem.
Fujiwara is currently working on Nippon Television Network's upcoming drama Soshite, Dare mo Inaku natta (And Then There Were None), which begins airing in July. In October, he will be starring in the stage play "Dara Dara."
