Hatsune Miku Hosts Concert with Taiko Drumming Troupe Kodō

In a mix of traditional Japanese culture and new technology, the NHK Hall in Shibuya, Tokyo, hosted a collaboration concert between virtual idol Hatsune Miku and the professional taiko drumming troupe Kodō on March 4 and 5. A recording of the concert will re-air on television on NHK BS Premium on April 23 and NHK Sougou on May 7.

The concert also included appearances from the virtual idols Megurine Luka and Kagamine Rin & Len. Songs performed included "Senbonzakura," "39," "Tell Your World," "Alien Alien," I-Arufankurabu," "Sakura no Ame," and others.


The taiko group Kodō is based in Sado Island, Niigata Prefecture, and is famous for popularizing taiko drumming both in Japan and overseas. Kodō frequently tours all around the world and is one of the most well-known and well-respected taiko troupes.
