The official Japanese Twitter account of f4samurai's Magia Record: Puella Magi Madoka Magica Side Story (Magia Record: Puella Magi Madoka Magica Gaiden) smartphone role-playing game announced on June 7 that the game will have a collaboration event with the Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha Detonation film. Further details will be announced at a later date.

Puella Magi Madoka Magica and Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha are landmark magical girl anime series that first aired during late-night TV slots with a target audience of adult viewers. Both series feature action elements and mature themes.

Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha Detonation is the second anime film in a two-film project, which is set in an alternate timeline to the TV anime series. The films are a sequel to the Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha The MOVIE 1st and Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha the Movie 2nd A's recap films. Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha Detonation opened in Japan on October 19.

Magia Record: Puella Magi Madoka Magica Side Story is a spinoff of the Puella Magi Madoka Magica anime. The game launched for iOS and Android devices in Japan in August 2017, and is free to play with optional in-game purchases. An English version will launch on June 25. A television anime adaptation of the game will premiere this year.
