Business Week on Anime

Business Week has published an article looking at the Japanese anime industry. It refers to the industry as little more than a cottage industry that has failed to realize its potential, saying there are no Japanese anime power-houses akin to Japanese mega-corporations like Toyota, or American animation companies like Disney. One company head is quoted as saying that it is a myth that anime is hugely popular, explaining that only 1 in 10 anime titles really turn a profit.
