Unnamed 27-year-old actress allegedly threatened on August 29

A 19-year-old unemployed man from the northwestern Japanese province of Yamagata was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly threatening to kill a voice actress on an Internet bulletin board. The voice actress has not been officially identified, but is listed as 27 years old. According to the police investigation, the young man used a personal computer installed at a Yamagata community center on August 29 to post the following message for the voice actress: "Die. On August 30, I will stab you with a knife." The manager of the voice actress discovered the post and notified the police. The suspect reportedly admitted to the charge.

Police arrested a 23-year-old man named Tomohiro Katō on June 8 after he allegedly struck pedestrians with a truck and then stabbed people at Tokyo's Akihabara otaku shopping district. Seven of his victims eventually died. The authorities say that Katō made a series of posts on a mobile phone bulletin board to announce his intentions in the seven hours before the incident. A 21-year-old man named Masaki Hori was arrested on July 3 for posting on the 2channel forum that he would "use a dagger knife and a two-ton truck to commit a massacre" on voice actress/singer Nana Mizuki and her fans at the Tokyo site of her July 5-6 concerts. Police arrested a 20-year-old man from central Japan on August 15 for allegedly threatening online to throw a grenade at the Comic Market (Comike) dōjinshi convention.
