Minori Scramble! Manga Gets Anime by ufotable (Updated)
posted on by Egan Loo
The anime studio ufotable has announced on Saturday that it will adapt Mikage Chihaya's Minori Scramble! manga into anime. The "slapstick science comedy" revolves around Tamaki Kakegawa, a fifth-grade girl who dislikes penguins after having to deal with them so much because her father is a penguin researcher. The antics begin with the appearance of Minori, a penguinoid (penguin + android) created to overcome Tamaki's dislike of penguins.
The manga runs in Houbunsha's Manga Time Kirara Forward magazine, and Houbunsha compiled and published one book volume in 2008. The studio ufotable had already announced in August that it will be holding open auditions during the fourth Machi*Asobi anime event in the southwestern Japanese prefecture of Tokushima, starting on October 9. The auditions, which are open to professional and amateur voice actors, will cast the roles of Tamaki, Minori, and Tamaki's schoolmate.
Update: Houbunsha posted a sample of the manga online. [Via Temple Knights]
