Helen McCarthy to Present Tezuka Seminar at Hyper Japan

London convention to be held from July 22-24. JETRO panel on Japanese multimedia to be also held.

British author Helen McCarthy will present a seminar on Osamu Tezuka at the Hyper Japan convention at Kensington. The seminar will take place on Friday, July 22, although no time has been given yet.

The website describes the seminar as "an introduction to the life and work of Japan's most significant manga artist." McCarthy is the author of the Harvey Award-winning book The Art of Osamu Tezuka: God of Manga.

On the same day, the Japanese External Trade Organization (JETRO) will host a "Japanese Multimedia - A Bright Future in Britain" seminar. According to the website, the seminar will discuss "the potential of Japanese multimedia in the UK, covering such sectors as anime, manga, video games and toys." Panelists at the seminar include Andrew Partridge from Viz Media Europe, Yen Hau from Rising Star Games, and Peter Stone from Konami Digital Entertainment. Anime journalist Andrew Osmond will facilitate the event. The seminar will be held at 4:00 p.m.

The event will also host musical guests Kanon Wakeshima and Joji Hirota, fashion designer Kumiko Uehara from Baby, the Stars Shine Bright, and comedy duo JaruJaru.

Hyper Japan is at Olympia Two, one of the three 'Olympia' exhibition halls next to Kensington (Olympia) station. The event will run from July 22 to 24.
