Rock Band Remioromen Goes on Hiatus

Trio performed theme songs for Major: Yūjō no Winning Shot, live-action Kansen Rettō

The Japanese rock band Remioromen announced on Wednesday that it is going on hiatus. The band said the decision came as a result of musical differences between the three members. Whether the band will resume in the future is currently undecided.

The individual members intend to continue working in music separately. The vocalist and guitarist Ryōta Fujimaki will release his solo debut single titled "Hikaru o Atsumete" on February 29. Keisuke Maeda will continue work as a bassist, producer, and composer, while Osamu Jinguji will keep performing as a drummer. They thanked their fans for all the support up to now.

Remioromen performed the ending theme song "Tsubasa" for the Major: Yūjō no Winning Shot anime film adaptation of Takuya Mitsuda's Major baseball manga. The group's theme song for the live-action adaptation of Masasumi Kakizaki's Kansen Rettō horror manga debuted at #3 and dropped to #15 in its second week on Oricon's weekly chart of the bestselling singles in Japan in January 2009.
