A Certain Magical Index Film Sets Record at Tokyo Theater

The anime film Toaru Majutsu no Index: Endymion no Kiseki (A Certain Magical Index: The Miracle of Endymion) set records for first-week attendance and box office receipts at Kadokawa Cinema Shinjuku, a theater in Tokyo, last month. The movie played on 30 screens throughout Japan and sold 69,117 tickets for 100,757,700 yen (about US$1,087,860) to rank #3 in its opening weekend.
In its second weekend, the film dropped to #7 at the box office, but it now has an overall total of over 200 million yen (about US$2.1 million).
