Campaign for Digimon, .hack//SIGN Voice Actress Brianne Brozey's Medical Funds Launched

Brozey was injured on the set of NCIS: Los Angeles in March 2011, has undergone spinal surgery

Voice actress Brianne Brozey's husband Deven Chierighino, along with her family, launched a YouCaring fundraising campaign on April to fund the medical expenses for Brozey's treatment for an injury she suffered while on the set of NCIS: Los Angeles as assistant location manager. The YouCaring fundraising campaign seeks to raise US$76,000 by August 26.

The injury occurred in March 2011. A falling steel grip head from a light stand hit Brozey on her neck, shoulder, and lower back. At the time of the accident, Brozey was looking down and taking notes, an act doctors said saved her life.

In March 2014, Brozey underwent a life-threatening, five-hour surgery that left her with difficulty speaking. The surgery was to fuse two cervical discs and two artificial discs.

Brozey was scheduled for another surgery in May to fuse the C2 and C3 discs. Doctors specifically delayed the fusion because of the proximity to her vocal cords and the possible effect it could have on her voice acting career. More medical attention will be needed to address herniated discs in the lumbar portion of Brozey's back and fix an AC separation in her right shoulder that is preventing her from fully using her right arm and hand.

Brozey, who also works under the name Brianne Siddall, worked as a voice actress on the .hack franchise as Tsukasa. She also voiced Tommy Himi in the Digimon Frontier Movie, Keenan Crier in Digimon: Data Squad, and various Digimon including Calumon, Korikakumon, Kumamon, and Koromon. She appeared in Duel Masters, Gurren Lagann, Kikaider-01: The Animation, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Saint Tail, and Zatch Bell.

In a statement to the website Deadline last March, Brozey's husband Deven Chierighino wrote that Worker's Compensation for the injury is not sufficient to cover her medical needs, "To add insult to injury, even to this day, more than four years now after her injury, she is still yet to be approved to consult and be treated for the pain management from the incident. Workers Comp and the court system says that she can't be in physical pain and refuses to acknowledge this fact or pay for any treatment. It's outrageous, and cruel. I used to come home from work and find her laying on the floor in the bathroom or kitchen rolled in a fetal position and crying to the point where the pain was so great she couldn't even scream."

As of May 1, Chierighino wrote in an update on the fundraising campaign page that Brozey has still not been approved by Worker's Compensation to start her required Post Physical Therapy treatments.

Individuals who want to donate can do so through the YouCaring fundraiser campaign page. A tax-deductible donation fund has also been set-up at The Wells Fargo Bank, and individuals can donate at any Wells Fargo Bank in c/o the Brianne Brozey Donation Fund. Donations can also be sent via PayPal.
