Nintendo unveiled a new trailer for its upcoming Metroid Prime: Federation Force Nintendo 3DS cooperative shooter game during the Nintendo Direct presentation on Thursday. The trailer previews the game's story and four-player cooperative gameplay, and reveals its spring 2016 release window. The Nintendo Direct presentation further specified that the game will ship in late 2016.

Metroid Prime: Federation Force will include the multiplayer mini-game Metroid Prime: Blast Ball.

Metroid: Other M, the most recent installment in the series, shipped in 2010 for Nintendo Wii. Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto and Shinya Takahashi revealed in 2014 that the company was hosting internal discussions about the future of the Metroid franchise.
