Zegapain Gets VR Event Featuring Designer Hiroyuki Hataike on Friday

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
Event takes place before 10th anniversary event "stage reading" on Saturday

The virtual reality service Cluster announced on Thursday that it will hold an online VR event for the Zegapain anime's 10th anniversary titled "Maihama Server Kidō Test Kinenshikiten" (Maihama Server Startup Test Memorial Ceremony) on Friday, July 15 at 8:00 p.m. The event will feature a presentation by character designer Hiroyuki Hataike.

The Cluster VR service allows users to participate in events and presentations through VR mounted headsets such as the Oculus Rift, but people without headsets can still participate in the event by downloading an app to their PC and logging in with their Twitter account.

The VR event falls one night before the "10th Anniversary Zegapain SBG Summer Festival @ The Maihama Server" celebratory "stage reading" event on Saturday, July 16. The event will feature Shintarō Asanuma, Kana Hanazawa, and Ayako Kawasumi, who voiced the characters Kyo, Ryoko, and Shizuno respectively in the original series. ROCKY CHACK, who performed three ending theme songs for the series, will also perform live during the event.

Zegapain ADP, a compilation film of the original Zegapain television anime with new footage and characters, will open at Shinjuku Piccadilly in Tokyo; Cinema Ikspiari in Maihama, Chiba; and other theaters on October 15. Bandai Visual previously streamed a teaser video for the film.

The new characters for the film — whose names appeared in the original television anime series — include:

Kanō Tōru

Kohakura

Funaberi

The series will get a new Blu-ray Disc release. It will be a standard release version of Bandai Visual's 2010 Blu-ray Disc release in Japan, which had been exclusive to those who had pre-ordered the set at the time. The new Blu-ray Disc release is slated for August 31.
